It wasn’t until after I finished both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science at Georgia Tech, that I realized the impact my Jesuit High School education had left on me. As my life moves forward, I yearn to use my passion for technology as “A Man for Others” to better the community.

How about a community program to expose youth to the insides of computers. Just show ‘em the math and see what happens.

I wanna write a RoR app that process batch jobs from a shopping cart: the batch job specifies configuration and code and results are delivered as they are created. Can I pass detailed configuration information to and from the sandboxed code? Can the RoR app create and populate enough of a filesystem such that the code could run over a half dozen huge files and then create multiple reports from them. Can the code be Python or C++?

The next time you hear something about the birth rate in Germany declining, please remember that it is your fault. Did you really need to berate the woman with the baby in the stroller because she was taking up too much room on the train? Shouldn’t people with small children be allowed to occasionally block two seats on a mostly empty train?

A “Lincoln Park” (sp?) song came on the radio and, when I went to change the station, I discovered that iDrive had crashed. The car wouldn’t let me change the station or control the volume from the steering wheel or from the dash or from the heads up display. I sat, growing slowly angry, until I realized I hadn’t tried to just mute the whole rotten thing. That worked.

Does Samba4 require the installation and configuration of BIND9 or does it include it’s own DNS implementation? Reports and HOWTOs conflict. All I know is that smbd does nothing to mah 53.

I flashed our router with DD-WRT, re-established all service, and got incoming SIP connections from Vitelity all before my wife woke up this morning. Am I the only one who takes the responsibility for delivering my loved-ones internet service so seriously?

Missing Cuban Bread

I’m starting to think that unless it is 85° Fahrenheit and 95% humid, I will never be able to make a decent loaf of cuban bread. There is also no palmetto in the backyard.

The crumb is too dense and the crust is too thick, why can’t anyone post a recipe with baker’s percentages. Time to start working something out.

After reading through the draft ACTA Treaty, I have only one question: how can I travel domestically or internationally without compromising the safety of corporate secrets (mah keyz! and codez!).

Somewhere on my harddrive is the invisible imprint of a key pair I generated. The private half of which decrypts valuable data. The hard disk might be encrypted, but that just means customs will confiscate the laptop.

If you can’t carry the hardware with you, how can you travel?
